1. "Peter"
2. DJ spinna rockin Common/Slum Village's "Thelonious"
3. All the regulars reppin HHK to the fullest.
I enjoyed Jeru's drunken soliloquy. He's like a an uncle who keeps showing up at family functions.
Here are some more pictures of yesterday -- all from the Festival itself.
You don't have to be on Facebook to view these. They're split into two parts.

Charlies Mom rooting her son on.
The we made it performance was incredible
The Dilla set by Spinna made my night
I tried to jump up and down and felt like I was gonna have a heart attack and a stroke simultaenously.
Talking to Diggedy during Spinna, lookin up and askin him, "Is that Doni D dancing on stage?"
funny thing about that is i'm running down the verses and i look out in the crowd and catch a glimpse of my mom and dad showing love - first thing i think is, damn this reminds me of my high school wrestling matches.
every time Peter got on stage, he spilled a drink. that was hilarious.
and of course, i loved Luchini. but i'm biased :)
shout out to Doni D. he was incredible! I had no idea i was in the presence of greatness.
that girl murdered Daytona 500, yo
Damali + Doni D. = "I love it when a plan comes together."
Damali thank you for rocking it so well. That made me go a litle extra(Hopefully not too much). I'm not a rapper I just play one at HHK.
The scuffs on my sneakers the next day was worth it in terms of the dancing.
How did it turn into Hip Hop Karaoke with no mics while Spinna deejayed. I got caught up in it too.
Words simply cannot do Saturday night justice.
I was so drunk off of the energy, Heinekens, and whatever double shots I kept getting fed, that I have no idea who "other guy" is, but I do remember being told that Doni D is onstage, me turning around, and saying "holy sh*t that IS Doni!"
Where does one start?? K Dot absolutely set the tone for the whole evening with his flawless "Men At Work".. It was a wrap from that point on.. You KNOW it was a dope evening when all I can really remember from the performances was that none of them sucked... As I was going up to host, Damali and Doni D had not yet met each other, let alone discussed "Luchini".. Then they proceed to come up there and murder it like the second coming of Cheeba and Suede.. I WISH I could have been in the crowd for Charlie's performance... That must have been crazy watching it with Dashaun and Mecca providing the dances... That sh*t was spontaneous too! I should know by now, but when Emily said she needed help on "We Made It", I was concerned cause it's a hard ass song to do (and also never been done before), and she absolutely destroyed it..
Did anyone else see the irony in me begging for towels every time one of Peter's drinks ended up on the stage, but me refusing to use the one draped around my neck?
I almost touched the ceiling during the chorus of "Warm It Up Kane" with Chef.
I feared for safety - of both human beings and Southpaw's equiptment - during Lance's hype hype hype "Scenario" with special guests Tanya "there's never a bad place to flyer" Morgan (who also killed "Dwyck")
Shout out to Derreck for convincing me to perform "Do It Again" at the end of the show..
You can see the negotiating going down in this picture :

I kept telling him "no man, no." Meanwhile, somewhere between him saying "you got 5 seconds to put your drink down" and "MAC", you couldn't pry the mic away from me..
Too many people.. Too many things I'm not remembering.. Scooter,Kev, Cliff, Shawn, Elizabeth, Toothpick,RDJ, Rockia, Julian, you all repped HHK to the fullest.. I'm sure I'm forgetting a ton of people in this post, but forgive me..
DJ Spinna's set was f*cking bananas.. Dude brought the house down.. The place was still PACKED at 3:30am..
I have no idea what happened.. But somewhere around 2, 2:30, I felt like I was at a Shawn J / Doni D / Chef lip synch concert.. We're all at the front of the stage, hands in the area, going crazy for these guys dancing on stage to the songs..
HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Man.. That's enough for now.. More when I memory returns.
Alice killed "Electric Relaxation" too.
FYI
thought it was kinda lukewarm...
ETC? I'm now reduced to an etc? Well that sucks - I'm Kristy dammit. the REAL brains behind Rare Form!
Just talkin' shit fellas. Great doing business with you - let's keep the trajectory going, shall we?
And add more LL & De La to the damn list of songs please. :)
anonymous you're breaking my heart
Whattup y'all...myself and the rest of Rare Form thanks all of u for coming out to Southpaw on Saturday night and helping create of the most fun parties in a long ass time. Seriously.
Too many highlights to name. The Shawn J / Chef lip synch show is definitely somewhere near the top. I honestly thought at any second Spinna was gonna call me over and be like "Get these muhfuckas off the stage, PLEASE." But later we learned that that little portion of the evening is what kept Spinna going. Along w/ the people getting up one by one to dance on stage...and everyone singing along during the Dilla set...sheesh. It was just nuts.
Jeru the Damaja made me very nervous with his inebriated speech because I thought he wasn't gonna get off. But people were like actually listening to him. He had a captivated audience.
The Scratch / Spinna tag team was NOT planned. Scratch just walked up in the spot and they went for it. I was outside when that started and I sprinted back in when I heard the cutting going on.
Emily, you caused some guys to adjust themselves during "We Made It." And Toothpick killed the Outkast song. People were literally buggin' out in the crowd. Damali / Doni D -- NUFF SAID. Tara leaned over like "HOLY SHIT HE SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE SONNY CHEEBA. THIS IS SCARY." RDJ, what the fuck were u talking about in ur song intro about the cell phone and the condom?
whaddup Kristy!
apologies for the ETC! and good to meet cha...
as far as more LL and more De La, we rely on instrumentals to make it happen, so if you see any, holler.
the LL stuff is especially hard to come by, cuz Def Jam wasn't big on putting out their instrumentals then.
beeeeee easy...
I have to admit, by the time I got home from my freelance gig around 1, I thought things would've slowed down around there so I was just gonna chill at home. I texted Oh the Newmanity around 1, and he didn't get back to me until after 2. After grilling him about the scene, I decided to call a car, pick up a friend on the way and make it out there.
I get there and look up on the stage, and I'm like, "Wait, I know that dude." It was Doni D breakin' at 2:30 in the morning!
It was kind of weird having my first drink that early Sunday morning (and last one at 6 a.m.), but that's how it goes sometimes.
I hate that I missed HHK (which Wex said was the best ever), but I'm glad I got to kick it with y'all despite the lateness. My friend was talking about it all day yesterday. (I gotta take her out more! J/K)
Anyway, you all lived up to what I said when this whole thing was first announced: Hiphop Karaoke and Rare Form, Doin' Big Thangs.
"RDJ, what the fuck were u talking about in ur song intro about the cell phone and the condom?"
I gotta go with Dee Phunk on this one. I was laughing like I would laugh at an absurdist Monty Python skit. I heard "Choose the condom and you will join your mother in death" and thought you were on some weird pro-birth control tip. My friends at Planned Parenthood were high-fiving each other behind me.
anyone have pics from the night?
Why is it that it seems as if NOBODY except myself understood what RDJ meant by choose the cell phone or the condom? Here goes....
On the album before 4th Chamber comes on there's an excerpt from the cult classic "Shogun Assassin" where Lone Wolf is talking to his son. The actual wording is "choose the ball, and you join your mother(unseen in the movie but we're told she was killed), choose the sword, and you join me in hell" RDJ, GREAT IMPROVISATION....
And to all who came out, to all who blessed the stage, to all who stayed til the wee hours, Thanks for supporting a show that becomes instantly one of the Top 5 Greatest shows in my time....anyone dare to disagree?
yo. my wife left the computer while still logged into her google account. just wanted to share that.
Shawn J.,
We know the original skit. I think Dee Phunk and I were just perplexed at his choice of props. Unless it was real IMPROV and RDJ just keeps condoms in his pocket every time he goes out.
"Hey baby. Ever see Chaplin?"
It WAS real improv, fools. Paper-bag dramatics, theatre-sports style. I just reached in and used what happened to be in there at the time.
As for the frequency of condoms in my pockets, that's between me and your mom-piece.
"Hey baby. Ever see A Scanner Darkly? Wanna see A Scanner Hugely?"
Shit folks, they were handing the shits out for free in the Southpaw hallway! You all should have been waving your jim-hats in the air with me -- shits is expensive these days.
As Q-Tip said, "if you need 'em, I got crazy prophylactics."
Word, Doni D DID sound just like Cheeba.
And Emily -- you made it.
Sorry to burst your bubble but Cheeba was behind the stage. I gave him some of that stick icky and lip synced the whole thing. Made you look.
Nah really Wex had the version with Cheebas verses and no Geechi Suede. LOL. Wex the money is in the account.
In case you haven't seen em...
My pics from Saturday night.

I got video clips of teufel shuffle's I Got It Made and Dashaun's second half of Know the Ledge. I'll put em on youtube eventually.

how did i miss a Rare Form/HHK event?!?! i hate being out of town for this shyt.
Had a blast on Saturday. Sick performances, everyone. Photos are done and should be posted soon.
Hard to pick out favorite moments when the whole night was that crazy. You'll see my favorite 50 or so whenever Wex gets them online...
Alrighty then....Another warm round of applause for everyone who got busy Saturday night....

btw, what I wouldn't give to see video of him doing this at his Bar Mitzvah...
haha. that's dope - thanks for posting, kev. i don't have video from the bar mitzvah, but i do have pics. coolest thing was that we played the song for the band, who then was able to do the beat for the karaoke. and just like on saturday night we had dancers as well. and my dad's name is ed. so that's how we do.
I'm still reading Charlie's last entry over and over. Charlie, you got the band at your bar mitzvah to play the fucking beat and you rapped it? Yikes. You make me and my lttle sis' live renditions of the entire BBD - Poison album for my parents look MINISCULE.
Somebody told me on Saturday night that they filmed the "Do It Again" performance. I was a tad inebriated towards the end of the night, so apologies. Who was that?
Well, I said I WISH someone had taped it.
Hopefully someone does have that footage.
we also got the band to play the beat to it takes two so we could karaoke that joint as well. those were all the karaokes done at the bar mitzvah. but i guess that everyone singing the havanagilah was technically karaoke as well, so that jam too. that's it i think.
Oh and Shawn J thank you for the clarification of RDJ's intro. Yes I know the skit. But the condom juxtaposed with "join your mother in death" sounded grim. I'm glad I didn't drink heavily that night or I woulda rushed the state on some what'd-you-say-about-my-mother shit.
Phunkster, now that you make me think about it, it was kinda distorted...Shout out to Chef, Doni D, Dashaun, the impromptu breakers and pop lockers, and anybody else who blessed the stage long after the HHK session was over...all that I can say is, WOW.
Dunno if you need to be on Facebook to see this, but here's me doing 4th Chamber on Saturday. The condom/cell-phone intro is not included, sadly.
I really didn't mean to insult anyone's mother, I promise!
Sorry, here's the link.

Big up to Susanna for filming! I know she got Scooter on film too.
i can't imagine that i'm the only one thinking this ...
rdj - facebook?
Yes Teufel Shuffle. Facebook.
What!
From the moment the first Mercedes-Benz CLS four-door "coupe" was introduced to the public, other German luxury automakers hit the drafting board. According to the German auto experts at AutoBild, Audi is just over a year away from unleashing its own cleverly packaged sedan.
