"Papa's Song" - 2Pac
"Your Mom's In My Business" - K-Solo
"Biological Didn't Bother" - Shaq
and although it was inspired by "grand-mama". . . you can't forget:
"Mama Said Knock You Out" - LL Cool J
not really a song from back in the day, but it is one about parenting that gives me a nice warm and fuzzy feeling when i hear it -
just the two of us, will smith.
re the secheduling change for feb's show, i recommend sending out a notice to your HHK email distribution list ASAP.
Ghostface Killah (a.k.a. Mr. Bittersweet Nostalga): "Whip Me With A Strap"
A very different kind of song about a family member, but one of my favourites: "My Brother's A Basehead" by De La Soul
Suit, I hope you can still make it on the 18th....?
yessur - all plans still a go.
Pretty much the entire L.O.N.S. album, A Future Without a Past.... Particular "Case of the P.T.A." and "Sobb Story."
What about that Nas song he did with his Pop, Olu Dara? What's that called?
Also, all of the "Pop's Rap"s on Common's albums.
how about yo mamma by pharcyde?
The nas track is "Bridging the Gap"
Duh... "Mama Said Knock You Out"
i dont think "mama said knock you out" is about his experience growing up or dealing with his parents... but it does have "mama" in the title... sooo maybe an honorable mention? same for the pharcyde joint...
what makes you think that pharcyde joint is not about experiences growing up? personally, the exchanges in ya mamma reminds me of many childhood moments.
i'm just saying... that song doesnt belong on the same list as the others. whateva suit, whateva! :)
Ice cube - memory lane
Papoose - flashback
